Textbook PDF checklist: interior, cover, and binding

Textbooks have two print assets: the interior and the cover. Keep them separate so page count, paper, colour pages, trim, spine, and binding can be priced against the actual printer profile.

Send these details

1. Interior PDF with the intended page size and reading order.
2. Cover PDF with front, spine, and back based on the confirmed spine width.
3. Page count, mono/colour mix, paper preference, binding, and quantity.
4. Confirmation that you have permission to reproduce the material.

Proof and approval

The proof should show pages in reading order. Imposition, creep, signatures, and binding allowances remain part of the printer's approved workflow.
